This story is about.....

This story is about solving the mystery about Jose Angelico. So Raphael, Gardo and Rat went to the journey to solve the mystery. They get in too lot of trouble and they had more information than the police so they were moving faster than police. Later when everything was done they go to the beach and live there forever and live happy lives.

Life changing event

In Trash Raphael, Gardo and Rat learn that the world will be never be the same. While they are going to the journey to solve the mystery Raphael, Gardo and Rat was chased by the police and they might have died by the police but when everything was done the lying is finished and they are going to live in their paradise where earth turn to soft sand, and the place more beautiful than creation. They have since bought boats and learned how to fish, and their plan is to fish forever and live happy lives. I didn't really had a experience like this but when I moved to AIS my life was changed. It changed in good way by start playing soccer and basketball and learn english, new style of studying, different friends and funny teachers. Something when worst was that i stopped swimming.

Characters

In the book called trash there are three main characters. Raphael, Gardo and Rat(jun-jun). They all lived in dumpsite in Bahala. They are dumpsite boys who sifts through the rubbish everyday. Gardo and Raphael is Fourteen and Rat is three or four years younger than Raphael and Gardo. Only Rat had no family. I liked Rat the most because he was useful a lot for the mystery they were solving. If it wasn't him they wouldn't know what was the key about and also they wouldn't know what to do in Train station etc. He don't have any family so he had to take care of him by himself but if he hadn't been for the Mission school he would have died. He also had lots of money hidden, the money was really useful to them.

Creating suspense

One way that authors create suspense is characters working against a deadline. An example from trash is when Raphael, Gardo and Rat are trying to solve the mystery of Jose Angelico’s death before the police catch them. This shows that police are also solving the mystery of Jose Angelico so gardo, Raphael and Rat is desperate and scared that police are going to catch them and do something. Another example is when Gardo and Olivia went to prison and they had limited time to talk to Gabriel Olondriz, they went to colva prison to get information of Jose Angelico to solve the mystery but they only had limited time so they couldn’t talk a lot about the Jose Angelico but Gabriel Olondriz told them what is the code about. Moreover when ‘next morning they were knocking on the door again’ this means that police are going to capture them because police also know that the Gardo, Raphael and Rat have more information and more stuff than police so police find them and they were going to catch them.

Another way that authors create suspense is readers knowing more than characters. An example from trash is when police doesn’t know who have the bag but the reader knows who have the bag. This is when police went to the dumpsite to find Jose Angelico’s bag, here they told us that Raphael got the bag. Another example is when Gardo, Rat and Raphael were lying to Sister Olivia to meet Gabriel Olondriz. Here sister Olivia didn’t really know who was the person she is going to meet because Raphael, Rat and Gardo lied to sister Olivia that they want to meet Grandfather in Colva prison but truth was they were going to meet Gabriel Olondriz to get the information of Jose Angelico. Also when
readers know that now boys cracked the code after they went to Gabriel Olondriz and he told what is the code about and how to solve it but the police man doesn’t know what is the code about yet.

Adding an element of surprise is also the way that authors create suspense. An example from trash is when the police came to dumpsite to find the bag that Raphael found. This is when story began. Another example is when police knew that Raphael got the bag and the police taken away Raphael he was beat by the police he almost died but he kept lying and the police just let him go. Last example is when Gabriel Olondriz died after the day when Raphael went to him to find the information about Jose Angelico.

Lastly the way that authors create suspense is conflict. An example from trash is when Raphael and his family arguing about the bag. This is when they first found the bag and when the police came and said they will give them money if they find it so his family and Raphael is arguing about the bag if he would give the police the bag or not, but Raphael didn’t gave the bag to police because he didn’t believe in police. Another example is when Marco won’t give them the bible without payment. This is when they went to Gabriel Olondriz. Next example is when Jose Angelico had to go to the jail instead of Zapanta. This happened because Zapanta stoled 6million and he lied that Jose Angelico stole the money and everyone thought.

In conclusion suspense make people to read more and make book more interesting.

Is it ok to lie?

Is it ok to lie? Maybe yes but maybe no. There are lots of examples of lies in trash. Raphael, Rat (Jun), Gardo and sister Olivia lies a lot. Raphael, Rat and Gardo is a dumpsite boy, who sifts rubbish, they lie to live and survive. They don’t have any power so the only thing that they could do to survive was to lie. In this book they lie to protect the information of the mystery, such as “I didn’t’ find a find bag, sir’” (page 61) Raphael is trying to protect the information of mystery.

If you lying for the good reason such as 'my grandfather's in prison, ma'am, and I want to go and see him.'(Page 80), in my opinion it's ok to lie in this situation because his lying to help someone.

I think when you lie to make someone feel better such as 'we get visitors, you see.  It’s mainly foreigners visiting the Mission School which they set up...I always smile and say, “Sometimes, sir! Sometimes, ma’am!’ What I really mean is no, never - because what we mainly find is stupp.' (Page 4), it depends on them who is listening to the person who is lying, in the book they are lying to make people feel good about them and the mission school.

Also in this book there are lot more stuff going than lying such as stealing and cheating and police corruption.

Example of cheating is when sister Olivia and Gardo went to colva prison to see Gabriel Olondriz but the prison officials make sister Olivia to pay to see Gabriel Olondriz. Other one is “the reason i am in this jail is that i brought corruption charges against senator Zapanta,” Gabriel (page 101) meaning Gabriel Olondriz is in the jail because of senator of Zapanta brought a corruption but instead of senator of Zapanta going into the prison, Gabriel Olondriz was thrown to the jail.

Also one of the stealing was when ‘then suddenly, Rat had turned and he had a key in the lock. Nobody shouted, nobody even noticed. I was ten paces on when I heard the sound of a door closing, and then Rat was next to us again, and I could see he had something under his arm. – Raphael’.

Moreover police corruption was a lot in this book, but one of them was when police hit Raphael and be violence and being racist to poor people.

In conclusion, the lies in this book are ok because they lie to survive and also they lie to find out the mystery. However the police shouldn’t lie and be racist to poor peoples. Moreover stealing is bad but in some case I think its fine to steal and also cheat for those kind of reason.

reflection on project

fundraising project
What we did well was that we brought every stuff and we had many costumers. All of us help each other and we got a lot of money. our weakness was messy, unorganised, not everyone came, not enough Korean noodle(cup). opportunities are prepare earlier, get more organised and work faster. Threats are people interrupting, bargaining, complaining.
